Unrequited Love

My roomie and I recently adopted a not-quite-one-year old ginger male cat. He’d been living in miserable conditions, so we brought him home and named him Tyrone, after County Tyrone in Ireland. I already have two female cats, Emma and Vala. They did not approve of this addition.

Of course, Ty is a kitten and full of energy, but he was also an un-neutered horny cat. When we first got him, we took him for his shots and scheduled an operation to address this issue. But every time we turned around, he was after one of the girls. Both of them have been spayed and couldn’t care less about his needs. But he kept attacking them, especially Vala, who is three and absolutely gorgeous.

We have a large house and a big enclosed side porch, which is where we’ve set up Ty’s sleeping accommodation. So, that has also become his time-out zone, where he goes when the girls have had enough and PK and I are tired of yelling at him. We managed to get the surgery moved forward, but but the little bugger is still chasing the girls. But sometimes, he’s calm.

The picture reflects the three times I’ve found him in my bedroom mooning over Vala. It’s like he just wants to be “on the street where she lives.” So romantic, right? But not to Vala.

I hope he survives to Christmas.
